Days after his split with Carlos Alcaraz, the Spaniard's ex-coach Juan Carlos Ferrero recently opened up about possibly joining Jannik Sinner's team in the future. Reacting to this, fans were left furious over the 45-year-old’s statement.
Alcaraz and Ferrero were one of tennis' most successful partnerships in recent years. The duo worked together for seven seasons, winning six Grand Slam titles and eight ATP Masters 1000 trophies. News of their split left fans shocked and in an interview with Marca, Ferrero recently opened up about his plans for the future. Reflecting on possibly working with Alcaraz’s biggest rival, Jannik Sinner, he said,
“It is something I would have to think about. They’re extraordinary players, but as I said before, now is not the time to think about something like that or to say yes or no. Right now, it’s time to get through the difficult phase, because I still think about Carlos every day, and it’s not the moment to think about others.”Reacting to the former World No.1’s statement, one furious fan on X wrote,
“He now needs to shut up. Very tacky for him to be talking about this. He's trying to come out of this looking good. He could have accepted whatever offer they made; he didn't. Best to keep the details to yourself. Did the same thing when he walked away from Zverev.”“He now needs to shut up. Very tacky for him to be talking about this. He's trying to come out of this looking good. He could have accepted whatever offer they made; he didn't. Best to keep the details to yourself. Did the same thing when he walked away from Zverev.”
Another fan claimed Jannik Sinner wouldn't be interested, writing,
“Sinner won't call. Don't worry about it.”“Sinner won't call. Don't worry about it.”
Here is how other tennis enthusiasts reacted to Carlos Alcaraz's ex-coach considering the possibility of working with Jannik Sinner in the future,
“And that bit in the article about Sinner is just so unnecessary from Ferrero. Truly nasty,” one fan wrote. “We didn't ask for him in the first place,” another added. “Please don't think about it,” one X user commented. “This will never happen in a million years. It would be like uncle toni coaching djokovic,” yet another fan chimed in.Juan Carlos Ferrero reflects on Carlos Alcaraz's future as a player
