The Seattle Seahawks are in the Super Bowl and will get a chance to play the New England Patriots for some revenge. But there's only one person who was with the team for their last Super Bowl matchup.
General manager John Schneider has been with the team for a long time, and this Super Bowl appearance against the Patriots this season will make some incredible NFL Super Bowl history.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Schneider is the first GM in NFL history to make the Super Bowl with the same team, but with a completely different roster and head coach than his prior appearance.
John Schneider makes NFL history that shows longevity in Seahawks' job
"Seahawks GM John Schneider is the first GM in NFL history to reach multiple Super Bowls with the same organization - while having a new head coach and no players from the previous Super Bowl team," Schultz writes.
This is a wildly impressive feat from Schneider. Not only is making multiple Super Bowls already an impressive feat, but being a part of the team long enough to make it with completely different teams is incredibly impressive.
Pete Carroll isn't in Seattle, and the same goes for Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, and many other Seahawks legends from the Legion of Boom era.
Instead, it's Mike Macdonald as head coach, Sam Darnold at quarterback, Kenneth Walker at running back, and the "Dark Side" on defense, led by Nick Emmnawori, Devon Witherspoon, DeMarcus Lawrence, and plenty of other great stars.
Howie Roseman of the Philadelphia Eagles earned high praise for how he built the 2024 Eagles Super Bowl team, but what Schneider has done, compared to the mid 2010's Seahawks team, has been nothing short of remarkable.
Not only does he have the trust of the ownership, but Schneider has also been drafting incredibly well over the last few years, nailing early and late-round picks in every draft.
He's also made a lot of big trades, like sending away DK Metcalf and Geno Smith, among plenty of other big moves, over the last few years.
Schneider is the best general manager in the NFL this year, and this statistic only highlights just how great a job he's done in his NFL career.
This piece of NFL history is incredibly impressive, and for Schneider, it might just be the stepping stone to an incredible Hall of Fame career for the Seahawks GM.
