The 17-time WWE Champion, John Cena, will return on the upcoming episode of Monday Night RAW and build up to his retirement match next month. A tournament named "The Last Time is Now" is being held to determine The Cenation Leader's opponent for Saturday Night's Main Event XLII.

While there are multiple possibilities, in a shocking twist, former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther might return for the first time since losing his title at SummerSlam 2025. He could confront John Cena and announce himself for the "The Last Time is Now" tournament. He might also vow that he ended Goldberg's career this year and now wants to close the year by ending Cena's career as well.

A former WWE employee criticized John Cena's latest match

At WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Event, John Cena and AJ Styles faced off in an exciting match.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's BroDown, former head writer of the Stamford-based promotion Vince Russo criticized The Cenation Leader for his last match against former champion AJ Styles. He pointed out that fans were dictating what's going on in the ring.

"You know what I found fascinating, and I think this may be the next wave. Obviously, the gimmick in that match where like they were doing tributes to everybody. But, bro, the marks were calling out spots, and they were doing them. Is that the next wave? Are the marks going to start calling the spots?" Russo said.

All eyes are on Triple H and his creative team, and what plans they have for the Chain Gang Soldier on the upcoming episode of Monday Night RAW and his retirement match, which is set to take place later this year at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event XLII from the Capital One Arena on December 13.
