John Cena allegedly buried a two-time champion due to jealousy, a former WWE star has claimed. With his retirement from in-ring competition, Cena has bid farewell to an illustrious career, and tributes have been pouring in for him.
Even before his final match, fans and his peers were all praises for the efforts of the Never Seen 17 and his contributions to the business. However, his former tag team partner David Otunga made a string of accusations against Cena, accusing him of bullying him backstage.
While Hall of Famer Booker T dismissed such claims, former WWE tag team champion Renee Dupree has claimed that John Cena intentionally buried Otunga. Speaking on Cafe de Rene, he said the Franchise Player was jealous of the former Nexus member.
"Honestly, I think that Vince (McMahon) took a real liking to David Otunga. One, because he’s incredibly intelligent, has a Harvard degree, two because he looks like a million bucks. Cena got jealous, so he’s trying to find a way to bury (him) in front of the guys. That’s what I think," he said.Spoiler on Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes - Check Here!
David Otunga accused John Cena of burying The Nexus
The Nexus led by Wade Barrett, debuted in the summer of 2010 on RAW and immediately got over. The faction's destructive first appearance in WWE led fans to believe a major storyline was going to play out.
A seven-on-seven tag team match was made for SummerSlam, and despite the fanfare, Nexus ended up losing the bout. In an appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, David Otunga was asked whether John Cena buried the stable.
Otunga said he agreed with the notion, saying that it was "100%" what happened. Allegedly, the Nexus was planned to go over on the day of the event until the finish was changed.
The stable didn't quite recover from this loss, and despite attempts to place them as a threat, they failed to get over.
