The Los Angeles Lakers entered a pivotal matchup against the Houston Rockets Wednesday night, looking to improve on their placement in the Western Conference standings and take the season series against Houston.
With both teams ranked third and fourth in the West, Los Angeles had a chance to move two and a half games above the Rockets for third and earn the tie-breaker if they were to end the season with the same record.
After defeating the Rockets in Houston Monday, the Lakers did the same Wednesday, this time defeating them with Alperen Sengun who returned to Houston's lineup after a back injury.
Luka Doncic impressed again, finishing with 40 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds and one steal.
That said, it was LeBron James who stole the show with an incredibly efficient performance. James finished with 30 points on 13-for-14 shooting from the field to go along with five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.
Following the game, head coach JJ Redick spoke on James' performance and had a hilarious comment.
"Watching him, it actually probably makes me feel like a loser,” said Redick.
A 15-year veteran in his own right, Redick played in 940 career games, but had trouble keeping pace toward the end of his career, especially when defending younger guards.
As a result, Redick retired after his age-36 season while James has played way past that age and now in to his 40's.
With the win, Los Angeles has now earned seven consecutive, tied for their longest streak of the year.
They'll face the Miami Heat Thursday on the second night of a road back-to-back.
