Gang Green hosts their division rival Patriots at MetLife Stadium in the penultimate week of the NFL season and their last home game.
The Jets (3-12) are looking to stop the Patriots (12-3) from clinching the AFC East title on their home field — the Patriots would be the division champs with a win and a Bills loss to the Eagles Sunday afternoon.
A Jets win would is highly improbable based on the latest betting odds, which have the Patriots listed as 13.5-point favorites on the road and an Over/Under sitting at 43 points at bet365 sportsbook.
Jets vs. Patriots odds, prediction
We’ll find out pretty quickly how much fight the Jets have left in them on Sunday.
After a holiday week and mounds of snow being dumped on the tri-state area, the Jets have plenty of reasons to pack it in this week. Even if they can muster the energy to match the highly motivated Patriots, their energy hasn’t amounted to much in terms of wins recently.
The Jets are down to their third quarterback this season and the offense has not been able to measure up to the competition with Brady Cook under center. Cook leads the team in interceptions for the season (six) and has already taken the second-most on the team (17) in just three games.

The defense has been abysmal as well, allowing 37 points per game over the past three contest. Motivated or not, the Jets are overmatched this weekend, which is why they spread is nearly two touchdowns for the road team.
The Patriots have some injury concerns this week. Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson is questionable to play as he continues to recover from a concussion. Wide receivers Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins have been ruled out.
Drake Maye #10 of the New England Patriots looks on in the third quarter of a game against the Tennessee Titans. Johnnie Izquierdo/Getty ImagesAs long as Drake May is at quarterback and Stefon Diggs is lining up a receiver, they should have no issues against a Jets defense that has 400-plus yards of total offense in back-to-back weeks.
I think the Patriots will have plenty of chances to score with various methods. They are one of two teams this season to score at least one touchdown six different ways: rushing, receiving, punt return, kick return, fumble recovery and interception return.
I’ll take the Patriots to score more than 3.5 touchdowns at plus money this week and fade this Jets team once again.
The Pick: Patriots Over 3.5 Touchdowns (+135, bet365)
