The New York Jets have some work to get done this offseason on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
While there will be plenty of focus on the offense, and with the quarterback, Aaron Glenn's defense needs some major overhauling. And why not land a few players he's familiar with?
According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, the Jets are linked to four free agents who all have ties to Glenn from his Detroit Lions days. These are four realistic and good free agent targets for the Jets this offseason.

"One veteran name to keep an eye on is an obvious one: Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone," Rosenblatt writes. "... Some notable Lions free agents to keep in mind include cornerback Amik Robertson, edge Al-Quadin Muhammad, and edge Marcus Davenport."
Of these four, Anzalone is one of the more interesting. The 31-year-old veteran has started 92 games in his career. This past season, he had one interception, nine passes defended, 2.5 sacks, and 95 total tackles.
Muhammad is one of the more interesting free agents available this offseason as well. He is going to be 31 years old, and coming off the best season of his career by a wide margin. He had 11 sacks, 5.0 more than his previous career high.

Robertson is 27 years old and coming off a 10-start, one-interception season for the Lions in 2025. He had a career high 12 passes defended, and finished with 52 tackles, also a career-best.
Lastly, Davenport is 29 years old, and while he only started seven games this past season, and one in 2024 when Glenn was with the Lions, he's shown some promise in his NFL career during his time with the New Orleans Saints, reaching 9.0 sacks in 2021.
Of these four options with ties to Glenn during his Lions days, the two more intriguing are Muhammad and Anzalone. Both are good veterans who'd help stabilize the Jets' defense in 2026, with Glenn taking over play-calling duties.
