Priyanka Chopra Reveals Advice for Her, Nick Jonas’ Daughter Malti on Future Career
Priyanka Chopra Jonas knows her late dad is always by her side.
Though the Quantico alum’s father Ashok Chopra died in 2013 after a years-long battle with cancer, she takes heart knowing that he would have given his stamp of approval to her husband Nick Jonas.
“Nick is exactly the kind of person my dad would have picked for me if he had a choice,” Priyanka told chef Josh Scherer in E! News’ exclusive clip of her appearance on Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meals. “My dad's first love was music. He loved music. He loved singing it. He loved listening to it. He loved admiring the artistry behind it.”
And beyond her belief that the Jonas Brothers member is “a prodigy” at his craft, which her dad “would have loved,” Priyanka knows he would have respected Nick.
“More than anything, Nick is a really wise soul, a wise person,” she continued, “and I think that he would have wanted someone like that for me, because that ain't me.”
The Heads of State actress—mom to daughter Malti, 4, with Nick—added, “That would have been a wish of mine, that my dad would have met my husband and my daughter.”
But while Ashok never got to meet Nick or Malti, Priyanka feels that her dad and “the angels of the universe” had a hand in the way her life has turned out.
“I almost felt like I had hands behind my back,” she said, “pushing me to move to America, to have a pop career, to suddenly be on these avenues where I landed up meeting the person who would be the father of my child.”
The 43-year-old concluded, “It just felt so serendipitous. I had no ambition for it. It wasn't something that I was seeking, it wasn't on my vision board. Circumstances put me in a situation where that became my life, and I had to survive it. And when you look back at your journey, it's like, ‘Oh, now I see the why.’”
