Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing co-owner Bobby Rahal recently came out and hailed the team's President Jay Frye as RLL intends on challenging for the title once again. Bobby detailed how Frye isn't the kind of leader who sits around ordering stuff, but actually the kind who gets involved to get the work done.
Jay Frye joined Bobby Rahal's team in April 2025 and has been at the helm to get RLL back to winning ways. Graham Rahal was the highest finishing RLL driver in the 2025 standings, and he only managed P19.
However, similar to F1 and other motorsports series, it takes time for a new boss to understand the workings of a team, and only then can one start making improvements. As RLL eyes the championship, Bobby Rahal came out and hailed Jay Frye, as he said,
“Jay gets shit done, makes shit happen. That's not a saying. That is a philosophy. And I just have to tell you, I've been so pleased. I mean, this guy doesn't sit around. He's very proactive, and he doesn't wait for anything or anyone.” (via RACER) “He just knows what he wants to do and just starts to get it done. And the energy that he brings to the organization is much needed in the direction, the example, and all the things you can say about a leader. There's no doubt in my mind that Jay Frye is a hell of a leader and it's been great to watch it, to trust it,” added Bobby RahalJay Frye was the IndyCar President before he was sacked by the organisation and replaced by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles. Frye has been working in motorsports for decades, first with NASCAR teams and drivers, then with Hulman & Company, which formerly owned IndyCar, and recently with Penske Entertainment before joining Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.

As Frye was signed, RLL parted ways with former COO Steve Eriksen.
“We are here to win”: Bobby Rahal makes RLL’s goal following leadership changes clear
Since Jay Frye arrived at RLL, he's been making personnel changes, including the hiring of former IndyCar president Brian Barnhart as Sr. VP of Operations. Former Arrow McLaren Team Principal Gavin Ward was the latest signing made by Frye.
While it may take time for the vision to become a reality, Bobby Rahal made it clear that winning the championship is the goal.
“I think if anybody doubted in our team that we're here to win. Despite the nice building and despite all this other stuff, I think Jay has put an exclamation mark on the fact that RLL is committed to winning races and championships. And it may take some time, but that's where we're headed,” said Bobby RahalThe RLL President also played a crucial role in bringing Mick Schumacher to the team for the 2026 season.
