J.J. Starling injury update: Syracuse Orange get good news for star guard

1 hour ago 2

The Syracuse Orange are set to get a star back on the basketball court.

J.J. Starling has been cleared to play.

The Daily Orange's Aiden Stepansky reported the news Monday night.

The update comes in advance of Syracuse's Tuesday night game against Monmouth, which will tip off at 9 p.m. ET.

Per an SU spokesperson, J.J. Starling is available for tomorrow’s game against Monmouth. Tyler Betsey will not dress due to the ankle injury he suffered Saturday. @DOsports

Starling left Syracuse's season opener against Binghamton and hasn't played since.

From nearby Baldwinsville, Starling started his college career at Notre Dame before coming back home to play for Syracuse.

A season ago, Starling averaged 17.8 points per game. He's expected to be a leader for the Orange this season.

Kiyan Anthony has been starting with Starling out, so it'll be interesting to see how Adrian Autry mixes the lineup up.

But it's a good thing in the long run for Starling to be back, for sure.
