Several prominent names have departed WWE since the start of this year. Another name has now been added to the list, as Ridge Holland has officially been released from his contract.
Holland, who is currently out of action due to an injury, recently revealed that WWE won't be renewing his contract, which was slated to expire in mid-November. However, in a shocking turn of events, it was reported that the company decided to terminate his deal a week early following criticism from the star on social media. In a follow-up update, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio noted that Holland was fired before the expiry of his contract to send a message to the rest of the locker room.
The reports of Ridge Holland getting released before the expiry of his current deal have now been confirmed, as the star has been moved to the WWE Alumni section on the company's official website.
Ridge Holland shared an unfortunate health update prior to his WWE departure
Ridge Holland suffered a foot injury during a TNA match, where he was representing WWE as the two companies are now in a working partnership. The 37-year-old recently detailed his health status, noting that he is also dealing with neck issues, which could even require surgery.
"Next Tuesday, I’ve got to go to Birmingham, Alabama to have the cast off, some more X-Rays to make sure that the foot is all good and we can go to partial weight bearing. The kicker is that prior to the foot, I had a neck injury that was going to get imaging for. I got imaging for that post-foot surgery and I’m going to Birmingham to see the neck specialist. Worst case scenario, I’ll need neck surgery and I’m hoping for the best case scenario, which is injections but I’m having some nerve impingement which is sending pain down my arm, so I’m a little bit apprehensive about what’s going to happen," he said. [H/T: Ringside News]Ridge Holland aired his frustration regarding his contract not getting renewed while he is out with an injury. However, things have turned much worse for him as he was released from his contract even before its expiry.
We, at Sportskeeda Wrestling, would like to wish Ridge all the best in his future endeavours and hope to see him return to action healthier than ever.
