Former ATP star Sam Querrey shared his thoughts on the recent title game between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in Turin. The duo met in the title game of the ATP Finals, and the Italian defeated Alcaraz in straight sets to defend his crown.

This was another indoor tournament, where Sinner showed how dominant he is in such conditions. Querrey, while talking about the finals on the Nothing Major Show, compared Sinner's indoor dominance alike Roger Federer's stronghold on grass.

"I started finding myself cheering for Sinner to not lose serve the entire tournament," Querrey said (2:45). "I didn’t necessarily care who won the match, but it would have been cool for him to not lose serve the entire tournament. But Sinner is unbeatable indoors basically. It’s the closest thing, it’s like Federer on grass in his prime. You know, Sinner indoors right now is like the same thing."

In his prime, Roger Federer was unbeatable on grass. He holds the longest winning streak on grass, winning 65 consecutive matches from 2003-2008. During this streak, he won 10 straight titles, five at Wimbledon and five at Halle. Rafael Nadal finally snapped this streak by winning the finals of the 2008 Wimbledon championship.

Over his career, Federer won 19 grass-court singles titles, the most in the Open Era. This includes eight Wimbledon titles, nine Halle titles and one Stuttgart title. Federer has registered 192 career wins on grass, which is the most by anyone in the Open Era.

Jannik Sinner's indoors dominance

Among all active players on the tour, Jannik Sinner has the best winning percentage in indoor settings. According to the ATP’s Beyond the Numbers series, his indoor mark is 88-21.

By winning the 2025 ATP Finals, Sinner has extended his indoor winning streak to 31 matches. During this streak, only three times, the match has extended to the decisive set.

This streak is one of the longest in Open Era history, with only the likes of John McEnroe, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Ivan Lendl having had longer.

The 24-year-old Italian star is already matching the top indoor stars in tennis history. He is currently joint sixth with Richard Gasquet with seven ATP indoor titles. The four-time Grand Slam champion trails Alexander Zverev (8), Daniil Medvedev (8), Gael Monfils (8), Marin Cilic (9) and Novak Djokovic (19).

It remains to be seen where Sinner ends up in this list of most indoors titles when he retires from tennis.
