Head coach of Indiana Volleyball team, Steve Aird, recently turned emotional after the recent visit to his alma mater, the Penn State University. The head coach saw his team, the Indiana Hoosiers, stage a major upset as they defeated the defending champions, the Penn State Nittany Lions by 3-0.
In his recent conversation with the B1G Network after the match, Steve Aird revealed how overwhelmed he felt after the victory at his alma mater. The coach was almost unable to express his emotions in words.
Aird mentioned about his connection to the Penn State as he said,
"It's maybe not joyful. You know, it's a program that made me. You know it's hard right now, kind of emotional."Before the victory against the Penn State Nittany Lions, Steve Aird's Indiana Volleyball team had previously met the Maryland Terrapins team on October 31 and the Northwestern Wildcats on October 26. The Indiana Hoosiers won both games in straight sets, recovering from the loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the game held on October 24. The Indiana Hoosiers will now compete against the Iowa Hawkeyes on November 7.

Born in the Canadian town of Toronto, Steve Aird arrived at Penn State University in 1997 for his higher studies. He represented the college volleyball team from 1999 to 2001, contributing to the team's impressive journey on each occasion. The Penn State Nittany Lions qualified for the semifinals of the NCAA Volleyball championships on all three occasions he represented the team.
After graduating from Penn State in 2001, Aird decided to take up coaching as a career. The former volleyball player first joined the Auburn Tigers' team as an assistant coach from 2002 to 2005. The Canadian-born volleyball coach rejoined his alma mater as the Director of Volleyball Operations from 2007 to 2010.
During his tenure, Aird was instrumental in Penn State's dream journey to the NCAA title in 2008, as well as a runner-up finish in the 2010 edition. Steve Aird joined the Indiana Hoosiers as the head coach in 2018. He hopes that the team makes it to the regional finals this year.
