In an interview with GQ released on December 29, 2025, Tom Hiddleston officially confirmed that he has finished filming his role for the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release in late 2026. While the Marvel star is known for his secrecy, he didn't hold back his excitement for the script, calling it a "monumental" entry in the MCU.
Reflecting on the scale of the film, Hiddleston teased that the story takes a turn that even surprised him after over a decade in the franchise. He stated:
"My contribution has been contributed. It is monumental. The centre of the story is absolutely brilliant, and was so surprising when I read it. It just has never been done before."Tom Hiddleston’s return as Loki in Avengers: Doomsday was officially confirmed during a high-profile Disney event in Italy in early December 2025. The presentation revealed the new Avengers lineup, featuring Loki alongside Thor and Captain America.

Tom Hiddleston’s recent feature in British GQ served a dual purpose: promoting the long-awaited return of his hit series, The Night Manager, reflecting on his legendary 15-year journey as Loki and his upcoming appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.
Hiddleston reflected on his journey from a villainous trickster to the "God of Stories." He explained that for Loki to evolve truly, he had to stop running from his past and instead confront it with total honesty. This shift from chaos to responsibility is what Hiddleston calls the "authorship" of one's own character. He said:
"In order to become someone different, whose story had a different ending, he had to make peace with the things he did. It gave him the power of authorship over his own story."Over a 15-year arc, he transformed the villainous Loki into a sympathetic, fallible figure. This journey peaked in his spin-off's finale, where Loki was finally granted a second chance to choose goodness over mischief. The series, which had run for 2 seasons between 2021 to 2023, consists of 12 episodes.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. The film is already creating a buzz bringing back many fan-favorite stars. Besides Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU, but not as Iron Man. He will play the new main villain, Doctor Doom. Other icons returning include Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Chris Hemsworth as Thor.
The movie will be a massive team-up featuring characters from the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Thunderbolts. Avengers: Doomsday is the explosive first chapter of a two-part finale, building the ground for Avengers: Secret Wars, which is scheduled to be relased in 2027.
