Although Steph Curry has appeared in well over half of the Golden State Warriors’ regular-season contests this season, he’s dealt with a few nagging injuries along the way.
The 37-year-old superstar is currently nursing a knee injury, not only putting his status for the franchise’s Saturday night Western Conference clash vs. the Los Angeles Lakers in jeopardy, but also his status for future contests.
Is Steph Curry out for the year?
According to a recent report from ESPN’s Anthony Slater, there’s no indication that Curry will miss the rest of the year due to his knee injury. Curry reportedly informed Slater that he’s progressing well and should be fully healed soon.
"It's trending in the right direction," Curry stated. "It's different than last year, but something that will heal."
However, Slater did note that it isn’t clear when Curry will be back in action for the Dubs.
“It is unclear when he will return to the lineup,” Slater said. “Early last season, Curry dealt with tendinitis in both of his knees, forcing the Warriors to manage his minutes and rest him for a game.”
“This time around, he is dealing with what the team is listing as patellofemoral pain syndrome, also known as ‘runner's knee’, which typically consists of swelling and pain around the kneecap. The team continues to call him day-to-day, but he doesn't sound like someone preparing to return for Saturday night's ABC showcase game against the Los Angeles Lakers.”
Missing one contest isn’t the end of the world, but sitting out several games would be problematic for Curry and the Warriors. Golden State must continue to embrace the next-man-up philosophy as they eagerly await Curry’s return.
