Scottie Scheffler was supposed to get back on the golf course this week.
It was a homecoming of sorts on the schedule for the kid raised in Texas -- the PGA Tour hits the Houston Open, with the tournament beginning Thursday.
Plans changed for the world's No. 1 golfer, though, and with only a few weeks until the Masters, the timeline is getting a little tight for Scheffler to regain his form.
His iron play hasn't been at its best in recent weeks, leading Scheffler to flirt with the cut line in multiple recent tournaments.
There won't be any irons on the course at all this week from Scheffler.
Is Scottie Scheffler playing this week?
No, Scottie Scheffler isn't playing at the Texas Children's Houston Open, but for a good reason.
Golf Channel reports that the birth of Scheffler's second child is "imminent."
Scheffler and his wife Meredith already have one child, a son, Bennett. Bennett was born on May 8, 2024.
Scheffler's absence means that Matt Kuchar is into the Houston Open field after being an alternate.

When is the Masters?
The Masters will begin two weeks after the Houston Open.
The Thursday first round at Augusta National is on April 9.
Given that this isn't an injury for Scheffler but rather a positive family reason, he should be back and ready to roll in the pursuit of a Green Jacket.
