Browns make Deshaun Watson decision early in offseason after two years recovering from injury

To say things have been bad for the Cleveland Browns and Deshaun Watson would be an understatement, as there's an argument that he's been at the worst signing and trade of all time. For a Browns' organization that hasn't gotten a lot right over much of the past few decades, it's very unfortunate that they somehow made an even worse move.

However, while Watson has struggled a ton and has been injured, it sounds like the Browns are at least willing to give him a chance

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns are willing to give Watson another opportunity to prove he can return to what he was, even after this stretch.

“In the meantime, they’re willing to see if Watson can rebound this season coming off his two surgeries to repair the ruptured and re-ruptured right Achilles. Reports out of South Florida, where he’s throwing under the guidance of his quarterbacks coach Quincy Avery, have all been very positive, and Todd Monken is eager to work with him.”

Two Achilles procedures are significant, especially for a quarterback who relied on mobility as part of his game. The problem here is that even before these Achilles injuries, Watson wasn't nearly what he was when the Browns decided to trade for him. Even if we just go off a pure football standpoint, he was far from what he was with the Houston Texans

There's been some optimism around Watson and him figuring it out at the NFL level again, but we haven't seen him on a field in a very long time, so I'd use some caution there.
