The Philadelphia 76ers are listing Jared McCain as available ahead of their highly anticipated matchup tonight against the Chicago Bulls. After 11 months on the shelf, McCain is slated to make his 2025–26 season debut.
McCain was hit with the injury bug during his rookie campaign, suffering a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee that limited him to just 23 games. Originally expected to be ready for the start of this season, he then sustained a UCL tear in his right thumb, sidelining him for Philadelphia’s first few contests.
The addition of McCain to a 5–1 76ers roster is a sight that should concern not only teams in the Eastern Conference but contenders across the league. McCain impressed during his brief rookie stint, averaging 15.3 points on 46% shooting from the field and 38.3% from beyond the arc. Had it not been for his injuries — along with those of key teammates — Philadelphia’s season might have ended quite differently.
Now, McCain looks to add more depth to a 76ers lineup already powered by the trio of Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and, somewhat surprisingly, Kelly Oubre Jr. In fact, Philadelphia is the only team in the NBA with five players averaging at least 17.0 points per game. Joel Embiid currently ranks fifth among them at 17.3 points through four appearances, still managing to anchor both ends of the floor.
While head coach Nick Nurse hasn’t revealed McCain’s expected minutes, fans can likely anticipate around 15–20 minutes of action as the young guard eases back into game shape.
The Bulls, meanwhile, are coming off a 128–116 loss to the New York Knicks and will look to bounce back on their home floor. Chicago has dropped just one game this season and continues to look like an early Eastern Conference favorite.
