The Memphis Tigers are chasing a spot in the College Football Playoff.
They can't afford any slip ups the rest of the way, and that starts with Friday night against Tulane, when the biggest question on everyone's mind is the injury status of quarterback Brendon Lewis.
Lewis, in his lone season at Memphis, has completed 69.1% of his passes this season for 1,869 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also run 109 times for 562 yards and eight more scores.
But Lewis was hurt on Halloween in the Memphis win over Rice, and now his availability for the Tulane game is uncertain.
Memphis enters at 8-1 (4-1), while Tulane is 6-2 (3-1).
Is Brendon Lewis playing tonight?
Brendon Lewis' playing status for Friday night against Tulane has yet to be finalized.
When Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield spoke during the week, Lewis sounded legitimately questionable.
"We're still trying to figure out whether he gives us the best option to win the football game," Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield told 92.9 FM. "If he can go, if he's fully healthy, we'll put him in the football game."
Lewis had one game earlier this year for which he was a game-time decision, then went through warmups and gutted it out during the game.
Given the stakes of this contest, it seems like Lewis would do everything in his power to play.
But it'll likely come down to an official determination just shortly before kickoff.
