Edmonton Oilers superstars Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Mattias Ekholm brought their on-ice chemistry off the rink on Christmas Eve gathering for an outdoor hockey session with their partners in true Canadian fashion.
Lauren Kyle, McDavid's wife, shared glimpses of the holiday gathering on her Instagram stories on Wednesday. The first image, originally posted by Leon Draisaitl’s wife Celeste Desjardins, saw the group bundled up in winter gear on an outdoor rink with Celeste captioning it “Christmas Eve at the ODR” with a heart emoji.
The Oilers official account shared the click on their Instagram, writing:
“A bit of ODR fun ❄️”Standing in a line on the ice, Mattias Ekholm wore a dark winter jacket and white beanie while his wife Ida stood beside him in a white puffer jacket. Lauren Kyle looked cozy in a white fuzzy jacket paired with black pants and winter boots standing next to Connor McDavid, who kept it low-key in a navy blue jacket and beanie. Celeste Desjardins bundled up in a tan puffer vest over dark layers while Leon Draisaitl rounded out the group in a navy hoodie and dark pants with a white beanie.
Meanwhile, Ida Ekholm shared her own snowy selfie from Edmonton writing:

Connor McDavid’s wife was in attendance at Rogers Place on his five-point night
Lauren Kyle was at Rogers Place on Tuesday night to watch her husband Connor McDavid deliver one of his most impressive performances of the season.
McDavid recorded five assists as Edmonton dominated the Calgary Flames 5-1 with Kyle sharing moments from the evening on her Instagram stories.
She posted a photo from inside the arena showing herself alongside Rachel Gagner, wife of former Oilers forward Sam Gagner, as the two watched the game together from the stands.
“@rachelgagner my girls in town,” Lauren captioned the story followed by a white heart emoji.
via Instagram/@laurenkyle1Earlier in the day, Lauren had shared another story from a local cafe posting a photo of iced coffee drinks and tagging Rachel indicating the pair had spent time together in Edmonton before heading to the arena for puck drop.
On the ice, McDavid factored into all five Oilers goals with Leon Draisaitl completing a hat trick while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman added single tallies. Every goal came courtesy of McDavid's playmaking as the captain dictated the pace throughout the night.
