Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr was furious with manager Xabi Alonso for substituting him during the 2-1 win over Barcelona. The Brazilian did not want to be taken off during El Clasico and was spotted shouting on his way off the pitch.

According to a report in The Athletic, Vinicius Jr said he would leave the club and that it was better for him to move elsewhere. He was taken off in the 72nd minute of the match when Los Blancos were leading 2-1, and he said:

“Me? [five times] Always me! I’m leaving the team, it’s better if I leave, I’m leaving!"

Former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes has hit out at Vinicius for his reaction to the substitution, calling it disrespectful towards the coach and his teammates. He was on Tiempo de Juego when he said (via SI):

"First of all, it seems to me like a lack of respect for the coach, because he has to make decisions. You can be angry, you can show your discontent, and then let your coach know about it the next day. I also think it's a lack of respect for the player who's coming on, who's a teammate of yours, not just at Madrid but on the national team as well. And a lack of respect for the fans, the coaching staff, everyone."

Vinicius Jr has played the full 90 minutes just three times in 19 matches under Xabi Alonso. He was a substitute in the win over Getafe earlier this month, and also came off the bench in the win over Real Oviedo earlier this season.

Luis Milla urged Real Madrid to sell Vinicius Jr

Former Real Madrid star Luis Milla spoke to El Desmarque earlier this year, urging Los Blancos to sell Vinicius Jr. He believes that the club should offload the Brazilian and invest in a striker, with Kylian Mbappe moving to the left wing.

He said (via Tribal Football):

"If I were a sporting director, I would sell Vinicius and buy a striker to allow (Kylian) Mbappé to play on the left wing. Vini is a great player, but the club must also consider the image he transmits. Yes, his performances are at a high level, but his image is not always the best. He has a significant market value and Real Madrid could reinvest that money in big purchases."

Vinicius Jr has been locked in contract talks with Real Madrid and is yet to sign a new deal. He has interest from the Saudi Pro League and will enter the final 18 months of his contract in January 2026.
