Ian Machado Garry recently shared his thoughts on Leon Edwards losing to Carlos Prates at UFC 322 last weekend. The Irishman expressed joy at seeing Edwards get knocked out and explained his dislike for the former UFC welterweight champion.

Before their 170-pound clash at UFC 322 last weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York, many expected Edwards to test Prates' skillset thoroughly. However, the Brazilian dominated the fight and secured an incredible second-round knockout victory over the Englishman. This notably marked Edwards' first-ever knockout loss.

Given the history of bad blood between Garry and Edwards, perhaps it's no surprise that the Irishman was happy to see 'Rocky' get laid out by an opponent he's previously beaten. Garry beat Prates via unanimous decision at UFC Kansas City in April.

In an interview with TNT Sports, Garry reacted to Prates' win over Edwards at UFC 322 and said:

"I'm very happy that Carlos Prates gave me an early Christmas present, and maybe an early birthday present. Knocking out Leon, that video, that slo-mo of Leon's head hitting the canvas was very satisfying. I don't like Leon. I don't like his team."

He added:

"They spread false rumors about me because of Leon's insecurities and lack of mental strength in the gym, and bad things come to bad people, people who have bad energy and bring that out to the world. Carlos Prates put him out, and I'm very, very proud of my son for doing that." [H/t: MMA Junkie]

Ian Machado Garry sounds off on Kamaru Usman for targeting Islam Makhachev title fight

Ian Machado Garry recently shared his thoughts on Kamaru Usman potentially getting the next welterweight title shot against Islam Makhachev.

Makhachev defeated Jack Della Maddalena via a dominant unanimous decision at UFC 322 last weekend and won the 170-pound championship. In the aftermath, Makhachev addressed a potential title defense against Usman and expressed his willingness to fight the ex-champion next.

Garry is set to face Belal Muhammad in a pivotal welterweight clash at UFC Qatar this weekend, with the winner potentially earning a spot in the 170-pound title picture. At the UFC Qatar media day, Garry shared his thoughts on Usman's title fight hopes and said:

"Do I think the champion of the world, one of the pound-for-pound best in the world should fight a has-been? Someone who used to be great, but isn’t great anymore? No. Where is he now in the rankings, around 8 or 9?... Islam Makhachev is a phenomenal fighter, and he needs to fight one of the young up-and-coming contenders, not a has-been who has no knees. So that’s it, end of." [H/t: MMA Fighting]
