Andrade's status has been uncertain for a while. Amid this uncertainty, a huge announcement has been made about his future.

Earlier this year, Andrade left the WWE and showed up in AEW within a few days. Following this appearance, it was reported that El Idolo had violated his non-compete agreement with WWE by showing up in AEW. Therefore, he was removed from TV so that he could serve out his non-compete clause.

His non-compete ended in December 2025, following which he made an appearance for NJPW instead of AEW. He is also set to compete at Wrestle Kingdom 2026. Now, NJPW has confirmed that the former WWE star will also be in action at their New Year Dash show on January 5.

Tony Khan provided a massive update on the return of Andrade

When Andrade returned to AEW, it looked like Tony Khan had some big plans for him as he joined the Don Callis Family. However, those plans were put on hold due to his non-compete agreement. However, now that his non-compete is over, he has still not returned to the Jacksonville-based promotion, and there is no update on his return date.

During the Worlds End 2025 media call, Tony Khan was asked if El Idolo could be returning to AEW anytime soon. The AEW boss replied that there is interest in him returning to the company. He also said that they're keeping an eye on the former WWE star's next move. Tony asked fans to stay tuned to see what's next.

It remains to be seen whether El Idolo will return to AEW after he finishes his upcoming dates in New Japan Pro Wrestling. It will also be interesting to see whether he will pick up where he left off and reunite with the Don Callis Family in 2026.
