Tony Khan finally addresses wild claim about AEW star Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks)

There has been a wild claim about Mercedes Mone doing the rounds. Tony Khan has just addressed these claims.

Ever since she joined AEW, Mercedes Mone has been a dominant force in the ring. She won the TBS Championship shortly after debuting in the Jacksonville-based promotion. She then went on to win titles for several other promotions across the world. With all this success came the criticism from fans that she was burying other female talent by winning titles everywhere she went.

During a recent interview with Jon Alba on The Takedown on SI, Tony Khan was asked about these claims. The AEW boss replied by showing his support to the CEO, stating that he was adamant about pushing Mercedes Mone at first.

“Mercedes is tremendous to work with, and I had been adamant about building Mercedes up and having Mercedes continue to win and win and win,” Khan explained. “Then finally, you have this match… Mercedes versus Toni Storm — the TBS champion versus the world champion for the world title… and Timeless Toni Storm picked up that great win.” [H/T Ringside News]

Tony Khan recently addressed Cody Rhodes' claims that he was disrespected in AEW

Before returning to WWE, Cody Rhodes helped start AEW. He competed in the Jacksonville-based promotion for a couple of years before his eventual departure. During an interview, Cody once claimed that he was fine with being disrespected by a global sports entertainment juggernaut, but getting disrespected in the company that he helped establish wasn't acceptable.

During an interview with Q101, Tony Khan was asked to address Cody Rhodes' statement. To his credit, Tony gave the American Nightmare the benefit of the doubt.

“You know, he does a lot of interviews, and I think when you have to say so many words so often — because he works so hard, he works such a big schedule — to his credit, I bet he does hundreds of interviews a year. And I’m not sure I agree with that, but I also would give him the benefit of the doubt that, you know, I’ve heard him say a lot of positive things, too," Khan said. [H/T - Ringside News]
