Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors have acknowledged that their NBA dynasty is "fading."
The franchise's goal now is to maximize however much time they have left with Green, Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and head coach Steve Kerr.
The Warriors have all that star talent and one of the NBA's top defenses, but Golden State's 17-16 record is only good for eighth in the competitive Western Conference. With a tricky salary cap situation as a repeat luxury tax payer, the Warriors have limited avenues to improve and pursue another star player ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

Golden State has been linked with Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis, as well as Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. But the Warriors will have to send back matching salary in the form of one of their big contracts -- namely, Butler or Green.
However, The Athletic's Sam Amick reported Wednesday that the Warriors are "staunchly against" trading Green, which makes it difficult to envision how Golden State general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. is going to bring another All-NBA talent to the Bay Area in the weeks ahead.

It is more likely that the Warriors will pursue a player like New Orleans Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III, who is on a reasonable contract. Golden State would like to include Jonathan Kuminga in any deal, as the former top-10 pick has been benched by Kerr in recent games.
