You can obtain Zhao for free in Zenless Zone Zero and keep her permanently, but this offer stands for a limited time, so you need to know how to do so.

How to get a free copy of Zhao in Zenless Zone Zero

Zhao in Zenless Zone Zero is an Ice Defense character who is a support unit that can buff her allies and heal them. She can be obtained for a limited time from the start of the 2.5 patch to the end of version 2.6. You do not need to complete any quests, as you will obtain her just by logging into the game.

Given the ZZZ 2.5 update is now available, simply log in, and a pop-up will appear informing you that you can claim Zhao for free. Hit the Claim button, and her gacha animation will play, adding her to your roster of playable characters in Zenless Zone Zero.

Here are the requirements for unlocking Zhao if you are a new player to ZZZ, as you will not be able to do so from the get-go:

Requirements:

• Reach Inter-Knot Lv. 5
• Complete the Main Story Prologue "The Hare and the Proxy."
• Unlock the Event feature

Is Zhao good in Zenless Zone Zero?

Zhao is an extremely restrictive character when it comes to building a team around her. She works best with Ye Shunguang due to her being able to buff Ether Veil, giving them the best synergy with each other. If you are a new player who is considering pulling for Ye Shunguang, Zhao will be worth upgrading.

Outside of a team with Ye Shunguang, Zhao's value falls off significantly due to her high HP requirement to max out the Crit buffs that she provides. She can technically work for a few teams, but there are better 4-star alternatives.

There is a high chance that future characters in the game will utilize the Ether Veil mechanic, which will increase her value. But for now, Ye Shunguang is the only character who can utilize Zhao's buffs to their full potential.
