For Java Edition, there are thousands of custom maps created by the community over the years. While these can be easily downloaded, their installation process in the game is slightly tricky. However, once you properly do the trick, repeating it is extremely simple.

Here are the steps to download and play custom maps in Java Edition:

  1. Head to the Minecraft Maps website.
  2. Browse through and download a custom map. Make sure to see which game version it supports.
  3. The map will be downloaded in a zip file.
  4. Once you open the zip file, you will find a folder with the map's name; simply extract this folder.
  5. Then, you need to copy and paste this folder into Minecraft Java Edition's official directory. For most players, it should be " C:\Users\{your device's name}\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves".
  6. Find the "saves" folder and copy-paste the downloaded map folder into it.
  7. Launch the game's official launcher and install the required game version for the map to run smoothly.

Here are the steps to download and play a custom map in Bedrock Edition:

  1. Head to the Minecraft Maps website.
  2. Browse through and download a custom map.
  3. The map will have a custom extension that Bedrock Edition can read.
  4. Simply double-click the downloaded file to open the game.
  5. The game will automatically start importing the custom map.
  6. Once this is done, open the custom map and enjoy.
