John Cena only has two more dates left before he draws the curtains on his pro wrestling career. The legend will defend his newly won Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series WarGames in the latter's hometown.
His final match will take place at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13, where he will face the winner of the Last Time is Now Tournament. However, according to former World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry, the Franchise Player could wrestle twice at SNME.
While speaking on TMZ's Inside the Ring podcast, the legend claimed that Joe Hendry, who recently signed a contract with WWE, could challenge the Never Seen 17 after his final match at the TV special:
“Even if it was Gunther, I would be satisfied, but then I still would want dessert. I would want Joe Hendry to come out and say, I didn’t make it in the tournament but before you leave, I want you to allow me the privilege of being in the ring with you. When Joe Hendry gets in the ring, you would thing that John would be like, ‘Listen man, I’m done, I just had my last match.’ John is a soldier and I would have Joe Hendry say, ‘John, I don’t want to fight you. I wanted to have a match with you because I wanted to do this’ and have Joe Hendry lay down on his back and tell John Cena to cover me so I had a match with you and you beat me on my record.” [H/T Fightful]John Cena's ex-rival out of the Last Time is Now Tournament due to injury
On the November 21 edition of WWE SmackDown, it was confirmed that Sheamus had suffered a shoulder injury and would be replaced in the Last Time is Now Tournament. The veteran had defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in the first round to advance to the quarter-final, but will play no further part after getting hurt.
Sheamus had previously teased a rematch with John Cena, exactly 16 years after he won the WWE Championship by defeating the Franchise Player on December 13, 2009. He even teamed up with the 17-time world champion for his final match on WWE RAW this past week, and it seems like that was the final time he shared the ring with Cena.
The Celtic Warrior was set to face LA Knight in the quarter-final, and it remains to be seen who will take his spot.
