The San Francisco 49ers placed Brandon Aiyuk on the reserve/left squad list, officially ruling him out for the rest of the season as he recovers from a knee injury. The wide receiver hasn’t seen the field this season, and it looks like his time with the franchise is almost over.
The decision follows the team’s earlier move to void $27 million in guaranteed money for 2026 from his contract due to his failure to attend meetings and other required team activities. The 49ers coach, Kyle Shanahan, confirms he has no issue with the latest decision of the team's front office.
Brandon Aiyuk shared an odd post on Instagram on Monday amid the contract fiasco with the 49ers. The wide receiver, who inked a 4-year deal worth $120 million with the team last year, flexed his wealth, carefully taking a troll at the team and his critics.

Ricky Pearsall shows support for Brandon Aiyuk amid contract fiasco with the 49ers
A day after the 49ers moved Brandon Aiyuk to the reserve/left squad list, rookie wideout Ricky Pearsall is publicly backing his teammate. Following San Francisco’s 37-24 victory over the Titans, Pearsall voiced genuine concern for Aiyuk, whom he played with at Arizona State.
“I reach out to him every so often, and just shoot him a text,” Pearsall told NBC Sports Bay Area and The Athletic. “Whether he answers or not, I know that he sees it, he looks at it and I’m just praying for the dude. “We obviously want him to be here, and I have all the love for Brandon because he was a huge role model for me in my career, and really what [helped my career take off]. I saw what it was like to be an elite receiver at ASU and as a freshman. After voiding Brandon Aiyuk’s $27 million in guaranteed money for 2026, the 49ers could pursue clawing back some of the bonus money already paid to him. If successful, that recovery would help offset the $29.6 million dead-cap hit San Francisco would otherwise absorb if they cut or traded him before next season.
