Here’s why Arsenal could get Viktor Gyokeres so cheaply

Arsenal are on the lookout for a prolific goalscorer in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Gunners have struggled to score goals consistently and they believe it to be the different between them and the Premier League champions Liverpool

So after monitoring several strikers, Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres is someone who intrigued them and they believe that he would improve the team drastically.

The Swedish international has been in exceptional form since joining the Portuguese outfit. On Saturday, Sporting lifted the Primeira Liga title this season, and a big credit goes to Gyokeres for scoring goals consistently.

He has scored 39 goals in 33 games in the Primeira Liga this season, along with seven assists. Overall, he has raked up 53 goals across all competitions in the current campaign.

The 26-year-old has already attained the status of a club legend as he delivered two league titles to Sporting in two years.

He has an opportunity to complete the double as Sporting will feature in the Taca Portugal final against Benfica next weekend.

Despite all the success, Gyokeres may leave Portugal this summer with the aim of  taking the next step in his career.

Arsenal may sign Gyokeres for a lot less than his release clause

Both Arsenal and Manchester United are looking for strikers in the summer transfer market. While Arsenal have been monitoring the Swedish star for a couple of years, his former Sporting manager, Ruben Amorim, also wants to lure him to Old Trafford.

However, if A Bola are to be believed, the 26-year-old has decided to join Arsenal over United as he prefers a guaranteed Champions League team for next season over the uncertainty surrounding United's qualification.

Also, Arsenal may have a golden opportunity to sign him for far less than his release clause. Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, personally revealed that, looking at his professionalism and dedication towards the badge, Sporting has reduced their asking fee for Gyokeres, who already has a £84.1 million release clause.

The 26-year-old always wanted to respect his contract with Sporting despite plenty of clubs trying to lure him away from the Portugal capital following his fiery maiden year at the club.

Romano revealed that Gyokeres will leave the club this summer, and the decision has been made. Arsenal may sign him for as low as £54.7 million, as Sporting are grateful to him for staying in Lisbon despite offers from different clubs.

Later, when Amorim made the move to United, many clubs reportedly wanted to sign him in the January window. But he decided to be respectful towards the contract that he had with the club and stay until the end of the season.

The former Coventry City man has been a sensation for Sporting as he has netted 96 goals in 101 games for the club since making the move in 2023.
