Bayern Munich director furious over Florian Wirtz transfer saga

Florian Wirtz is expected to be one of the hottest properties in the upcoming summer transfer window. Clubs like Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Liverpool are circling around the 22-year-old to lure him away from Bayer Leverkusen.

As per reports, the German playmaker's parents took a private jet to the UK, as at least two Premier League clubs are interested in him.

All three clubs are heavily linked with Wirtz. Bayern are big admirers of the 22-year-old as they have been monitoring him since his initial days at Leverkusen. They attempted to sign the player last season, but the deal was rejected by Leverkusen.

Similarly, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of the German and sees him as the primary candidate to replace Kevin de Bruyne at Etihad Stadium.

Lastly, Liverpool are also interested in Wirtz mainly due to his versatility and creativity. Arne Slot would relish a player of that calibre playing alongside Mohamed Salah.

Amidst all this chaos, Bayern director Uli Hoeness lost his cool in a recent interview with BILD about Wirtz's parents travelling to the UK and the implications that will have on his potential move to Bavaria. He wasn't ready to take the trip seriously as he grilled the media for making a huge deal out of it.

"These are things that are so typical of the state of our media, that they take such nonsense as a small trip so seriously," Hoeness told BILD

"It's not about football anymore, it's just about every fart left and right.

"And then you have to ask yourselves whether that's still what the viewers want to hear, read, and see.

"What can I tell you now? You've been writing nonsense for weeks about him going to Manchester City, even though he was at Liverpool. We'll provide you with facts at some point, not more speculation."

Where will Florian Wirtz end up?

Amidst all the chaos, there's a possibility of him staying at Leverkusen for another season before he ultimately decides to move on next season. With two years left in his contract, this move will allow the chasing pack to sign him for a much lower pricetag.

However, according to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich remain very optimistic in landing the talented midfielder. They will submit the official bid next week. However, they may complete the deal this summer or in 2026.

The young German will be an asset to any team that he joins. He was an integral part of the Leverkusen team last season under Xabi Alonso that won the domestic double unbeaten and also finished as Europa League runners up.

This season, he continued his brilliance as he scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists across competitions. Overall, he has netted 57 goals along with 63 assists in 197 appearances to date for Leverkusen.
