Amad reveals truth behind being ‘frustrated’ with Erik ten Hag image

Amad Diallo has become one of the brightest young players at Manchester United from past couple of season. But things haven’t always gone smoothly for the 22-year-old.

Fans will remember the moment in October when Amad looked upset during a Europa League match against Fenerbahce.

He was seen sitting on the bench, expression serious, after watching Antony come on as a substitute ahead of him.

Amad came on only in the final minute. That image spoke louder than words — but now the player has shared what really happened.

Amad explained (via The Athletic), “In that moment, I was a little bit frustrated because you can understand sometimes maybe you deserve to play and you don’t play.”

It was a tough time for him. After returning from two loan spells and scoring a stunning FA Cup winner against Liverpool, many expected him to be a regular.

But under Erik ten Hag, minutes were hard to come by early in the season.

How changed for Amad Diallo under Ruben Amorim

Despite the slow start, Amad didn’t point fingers. In fact, he gave credit to Ten Hag for pushing him to improve.

“Honestly, Erik helped me a lot. He was giving me a lot of advice, even when I wasn’t playing… So I kept training very hard.”

Since Ruben Amorim took charge in November, things have changed. Amad is now a key player and has started regularly. His confidence is up, and so are his numbers — 10 goals and nine assists.

“It’s because the manager believes in me,” he said. “He believes in my potential. I’m trying to repay his confidence every time I’m on the pitch.”

Injury tried to derail his momentum, but Amad returned earlier than expected and is now expected to start in the Europa League final — his third shot at the trophy.

“I hope to win this one,” he said. “I keep praying for that.”
