Whether Giannis Antetokounmpo opts into his contract for next season or not, the Miami Heat should target three-point shooters in the offseason.

Bobby Portis Jr., acquired in the trade with the Milwaukee Bucks, is shooting a rock-solid 40% from beyond the arc. Klay Thompson and Tim Hardaway Jr. are the next best options to let it fly from three.

Still, Miami should do its best to create a roster that will instill confidence in Giannis that the team can contend for multiple years. The Heat are 2-5 in the first seven games.

Looking way too far ahead to the NBA Draft, the Heat are projected to select a guard from the University of Connecticut.

The 20-year-old hit one of the more memorable shots in NCAA tournament history during his freshman season.

"A regular name in 2026 first-round conversations, Braylon Mullins should be right back in the mix with a bigger role and easier path toward the 2027 lottery," Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman wrote.

"The historic shot he hit to beat Duke in the NCAA tournament highlighted his signature shooting range and shotmaking confidence," Wasserman added. "He was one of the most potent off-ball scoring freshmen, but he also possesses functional athletic ability for finishing and defending."

Mullins averaged 12.0 points per game during the 2025-26 season and scored 20 points in 25 minutes on Monday against Gardner-Webb.

He shot 7-for-12 from the field and 4-for-7 from three.

Mullins could be a suitable fit on the Heat, especially since Hardaway's contract is expiring. Regardless, a player with his profile is someone they should consider.
