As a child, he used to perform in local theater productions. The Superman star earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama in 2016 at the prestigious Juilliard School.
David Corenswet rose to prominence through his work with creator Ryan Murphy. He first gained notriety in the Netflix series The Politician (2019-2020) as River Barkley, the charming yet tortured political rival and former lover of the protagonist. He followed this with a lead role in the miniseries Hollywood (2020), portraying Jack Castello, an ambitious veteran navigating the post-WWII film industry.
He cemented his reputation in 2022 by playing a minor role in Pearl, Ti West's horror prequel. He further gained recognition for his portrayal of drug detective David McDougall in the grim HBO crime thriller We Own This City that same year. While his casting as the titular superhero in James Gunn’s Superman (2025) is what made him instantly famous, his earlier roles established him as a versatile actor.
