Aaron Rodgers' brother, Jordan Rodgers, used Josh Allen to explain why Fernando Mendoza isn't a better option than Jaxson Dart for the New York Giants. With Mendoza being mentioned as a potential target for the Giants, Rodgers made a strong comparison for Dart.

During Wednesday's edition of ESPN's "Get Up," Rodgers discussed the best options for the New York Giants (2-12) at quarterback. The former Vanderbilt playmaker explained that the Giants shouldn't move on from their rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart, and instead draft Indiana Hoosiers star Fernando Mendoza in the 2026 NFL draft.

“The problem is Jaxson Dart is a force multiplier because of his ability with his legs,” Rodgers said. “He can change the way you have to play defense. He can change the way he makes plays outside the pocket, those off-schedule plays. Fernando Mendoza can beat you from the pocket. He is so good, intellectual and accurate downfield, but it is so hard as a rookie to win in the NFL from the pocket without the ability to really hurt you with his legs and I think that’s the downside of his game.”

Rodgers explained what Dart can turn into if the Giants put the right pieces around him.

“He did it without Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo for most of the time as well,” the ex-QB added. “He’s a dude you have to build around because he could be the next Josh Allen.”

After a solid first season with Indiana (226 of 316 for 2,980 yards and 33 touchdowns with six interceptions), Mendoza won the 2025 Heisman Award and turned a lot of heads. The Giants could end up having the first overall selection in 2026, and the prospect of landing Mendoza looks intriguing to many.

Colin Cowherd urges Giants to trade Jaxson Dart and draft Fernando Mendoza

Veteran analyst Colin Cowherd believes Fernando Mendoza possesses serious traits to become the New York Giants' new franchise quarterback. During a recent episode of his podcast, the Fox Sports analyst explained that Mendoza was the best option for New York.

"The New York Giants right now would have the No. 1 pick. You trade Jaxson Dart, you take the 6'5.5" Fernando Mendoza absolutely," Cowherd said. "I think Mendoza is about as good a prospect as you're going to get. ... He's also such an easy player to scout because Indiana runs pro concepts. So you will know, watching his college film, the throws he can and cannot make."
