Have the Mets done enough to get over the hump with the latest moves?

2 hours ago 2

The New York Mets front office has had itself quite the offseason, from the departure of their franchise guy, Pete Alonso, to acquiring all-stars in Bo Bichette last week and in Luis Roberts Jr. and Freddy Peralta this week via trades.

It was clear that after Alonso decided to leave for the Baltimore Orioles, the Mets had to move quickly to bring in pieces they believed could keep the team competitive, not only in the NL East but overall, to have a chance at a World Series still.

Filling the void of a former 50-home run batter is never easy, but New York has decided to go the route of building a more complete team with elite hitters like Bichette, two-way players such as Robets Jr., while adding quality starters to the bullpen with Peralta, who is coming off his best season, and also picked up Tobias Myers.

The main question now is whether these moves are enough to make a deep postseason run, and we won't really know until the season plays out. But on paper, the Mets stack up well against most teams in the National League.

They also have the potential to beat any team in the NL aside from the Los Angeles Dodgers, but with the juggernaut they have created over the past three years, not many teams can.

Not to mention the team also still will have two huge impact players returning to the lineup in a 2019 World Series champion and six-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Juan Soto, along with their all-star leadoff hitter in Francisco Lindor, so although they have Alonso, don't expect this to be too much of a down year for the Mets.
