Steelers, Raiders, Ravens and Cardinals get great news from Browns head coach rumor

Going into Thursday, there were five teams in the mix to hire Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders.

Minter had interviewed at least once with all five teams and was in the process of making the rounds for second interviews, which is a sign that a candidate is a finalist for a job.

However, one of those second interviews will no longer happen, and the cancellation comes with the Browns, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

Cabot notes that Minter's cancellation is "likely because he feels like he has other [head coach] opportunities that are more certain."

"Chargers DC Jesse Minter is not interviewing for the Browns HC job today as scheduled, likely because he feels like he has other HC opportunities that are more certain, sources tell clevelanddotcom," Cabot reported.

This is obviously great news for the Cardinals, Raiders, Steelers and Ravens, assuming all four are seriously considering him.

That's because they now have less competition for Minter's services.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that Minter is "believed to be in serious consideration" for other head coach jobs, including the Ravens'.

Minter has conducted two second interviews thus far, one with the Raiders and the other with the Ravens.

Meanwhile, we're still waiting on word for second interviews with the Steelers and Cardinals, both  of whom conducted initial virtual interviews with Minter.

As we sit here today, it would appear the Ravens and Raiders are the favorites to land Minter given the fact they are his only second interviews thus far.

But as we've seen throughout this year's hiring cycle, things can change quickly.
