Sami Zayn recently lost the WWE United States Championship to Ilja Dragunov after the latter returned from his injury. Zayn has now sent a very emotional message about it all.
Sami Zayn is grateful for his US title run going how it did
The star became the United States Champion after getting a massive win over Solo Sikoa. What followed quickly became another iconic run for the US Title. The star decided to put the title up for grabs every week and wrestled different stars without even knowing who was going to come out and challenge him on a week-to-week basis.
Sami Zayn won the title initially against Sikoa and went on to face seven different stars over the next few weeks. On X, he wrote he had been reflecting on his run as champion and that it was one of his favorite things he had done in WWE.

He said that it was hard to do something great or memorable, but he felt that with this run, he had managed to do something that was both.
"Been reflecting on my run as US Champion. One of my favorite things I’ve done in WWE. 8 weeks, 8 very different opponents, 8 bangers in a row. It’s hard to do something great. In the age of content, it’s even harder to do something memorable. It felt like this was both. Grateful."Sami Zayn's list of opponents was the who's who of the future of WWE
Since the beginning of September, the star decided to put his title on the line against several different stars. He successfully defended the title against several stars who represented the past, present, and future of WWE.
The list of stars Zayn faced from the beginning to the end of his title run is as follows:
- John Cena
- Rey Fenix
- Carmelo Hayes
- Je'Von Evans
- Aleister Black
- Shinsuke Nakamura
- Ilja Dragunov
It remains to be seen what he does next.
