Rams open door to more NFL trade deadline moves after adding Titans cornerback

The Rams may not be finished adding new faces to their roster.

Two days after acquiring Titans cornerback Roger McCreary in a pick swap, head coach Sean McVay offered an intriguing response about the possibility of making more moves before next week’s NFL trade deadline.

“I wouldn’t say no,” McVay said Wednesday, as covered by ProFootballTalk. “It’s not something that we’ve really talked about. I think if certain opportunities arise that you feel like give you a chance to be able to significantly upgrade your football team, but I feel really good about our group and the growth that I still think can be had from us in spite of doing some good things. That’s really in all three phases. It hasn’t been something that we’ve really talked about, but I certainly would never rule that out.”

The Rams are riding high at 5-2 coming off the bye week.

Although they’ll ease themselves back into the action Sunday at home against the 1-7 Saints, the schedule intensifies from there, with dates against the 49ers (Nov. 9), the Seahawks (Nov. 16) and the Buccaneers (Nov. 23) on deck.

The Seahawks are tied with the Rams atop the NFC West standings at 5-2, but have a relatively easier slate in November with showdowns against the 2-5 Cardinals on Nov. 9 and the one-win Titans on Nov. 23.

Tennessee sent 25-year-old McCreary and a conditional 2026 sixth-rounder to the Rams on Monday, with the L.A. franchise sending the Titans a conditional 2026 fifth-rounder in return.

The 2022 second-round pick out of Auburn is in the final year of his rookie deal.

The Titans are looking at an offseason full of changes after firing head coach Brian Callahan earlier this month. The second-year coach dropped five of his first six games entering the season.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m.
