Giants urged to take a closer look at potential outfield upgrade

The San Francisco Giants could use a few upgrades over the winter. Finishing at .500 last season, they are looking to improve their rotation, bullpen, and potentially make an upgrade in the outfield.

They have gotten things started by filling some holes on the pitching staff. They went and signed Adrian Houser, Sam Hentges, and Jason Foley.

However, that may not be enough to keep up with the likes of the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. Do not be surprised if they come out in the next few weeks or months and get a bit more aggressive.

One area the club has not addressed is its need for an upgrade in the outfield. There are a few high-profile names like Cody Bellinger and Kyle Tucker sitting on the open market.

However, they may be out of the club's price range. Instead, Around the Foghorn's Nick San Miguel suggests the team take a closer look at Harrison Bader.

"If the Giants want to upgrade in the outfield, Harrison Bader makes a ton of sense. He is very strong defensively and while he likely will not replicate a career year offensively, he does enough with the bat to make him a valuable player overall."

Bader would not cost nearly the amount that Bellinger or Tucker would. He is also very strong defensively, and is coming off a career year at the plate offensively. Across 146 games, he hit .277/.347/.449 with a career-high 17 home runs and 54 runs batted in.

However, the Giants are not the only ones looking to bring in another outfielder this winter. The Philadelphia Phillies, Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and New York Mets are other clubs looking to sign an outfielder during the offseason.
