Giants trade rumor could result in deal with Packers, Raiders, Lions or Patriots

The New York Giants could reportedly trade one of their edge rushers this offseason.

According to SNY's Connor Hughes, the Giants are listening to trade offers for edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Hughes adds that teams around the NFL believe it's a matter of when, not if, the former first-round pick gets traded.

"Kayvon Thibodeaux, per sources, is a player the Giants are listening to offers on and the belief from teams here at the combine is that he will eventually get dealt," Hughes reported.

Trading Thibodeaux would make sense for the Giants.

The former No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft is entering the final year of his rookie contract and New York is deep at the position with Brian Burns and Abdul Carter under contract.

According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, the estimated required compensation to acquire Thibodeaux is all over the map, with league sources believing he may cost anywhere from a third-round pick to a late-round selection. Another source sees Thibodeaux being jettisoned in a player-for-player deal.

Four teams that could have interest in Thibodeaux are the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots.

The Packers have a clear cut candidate in edge rusher Rashan Gary and the team will have to replace him if he's sent packing.

The Lions' 2025 running mate for Aidan Hutchinson, Al-Quadin Muhammad, is a pending free agent and isn't certain to return if his price goes up as expected.

Las Vegas appears to be considering a Maxx Crosby trade, and with Malcom Koonce set to be a free agent, the Raiders are in a precarious spot at EDGE.

Last but not least, we have the AFC champion Patriots, who don't have a surefire starting solution locked-in opposite Harold Landry, as K'Lavon Chaisson is slated to hit free agency this offseason.
