Giants linked to top free-agent pitcher despite rotational moves

The San Francisco Giants are looking to put to bed a couple of seasons hovering around .500. For a team that was wildly consistent in the early 2010s, the fanbase would love for that to return.

However, the club has its work cut out for it. They will be undergoing the new season with Tony Vitello as skipper. He does ot have any experience in the big leagues, but was one of the best college coaches in the country.

On top of that, the cub still has a few holes they need to fill. They could use a right fielder, could use another frontline starter, and need to figure out who is playing second base for the team in 2026.

While the starting rotation is not bad, they still need a solid third option after Logan Webb and Robbie Ray. They did just reach a deal with Tyler Mahle and Adrian Houser, but could surely do better. There are still top options on the open market and a few more dangled as trade pieces.

Framber Valdez is still sitting on the open market, and he would instantly improve the club's rotation. He is someone that MLB.com's Mark Feinsand believes San Francisco has a chance of signing.

"The Braves and Giants are among other teams that have been connected to Valdez, who rejected a qualifying offer and will cost his new team draft picks."

However, the Giants are not the only teams connected to Valdez. Feinsand also mentions that the Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves, and New York Mets are other teams in play to sign the lefty.

San Francisco has missed on numerous high-profile free agents in the past. Could this be the year where they finally land one and make the fanbase extremely happy? Only time will tell.
