The Golden State Warriors are starting the year 2026 by giving forward Jonathan Kuminga playing time. Kuminga has had an inconsistent role for the Warriors to start the 2025-26 NBA season, and he has logged many DNPs. Against the OKC Thunder on Friday, the team announced that the forward will have minutes on the floor.
ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel reported on the Warriors' rotation plans ahead of the contest. According to Siegel's report, the decision to give Kuminga an opportunity against the defending champions was to address the injuries to the roster. Stars Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler are out due to injury. Draymond Green will miss the contest against the Thunder for rest.
"As a result of their core sitting, I am told the Warriors will play Jonathan Kuminga tonight," Siegel reported. "Kuminga has not played since Dec. 18 after being left out of Steve Kerr's nightly rotation."•

The Kings are still interested in Jonathan Kuminga
Jonathan Kuminga is the main subject of trade rumors for the Warriors. Rumors have surrounded the young forward, and his name has been tossed around. One team that has been interested in Kuminga since the offseason has been the Sacramento Kings.
Despite their interest, however, no official move has been made. Even so, the Kings have remained attentive in monitoring Kuminga's situation with the Warriors. The Athletic's Sam Amick reported on Sacramento's intrigue with Kuminga.
“I have no reason to think otherwise,” Amick said. “I haven’t gotten a recent update. But the messaging has been pretty consistent, which is, yes, they do still have interest.”Amick added that the price for the Kings to acquire Jonathan Kuminga has gone down. The forward's erratic role is primarily to blame. The lack of playing time has affected Kuminga's role and value in the trade market.
