President of the United States Donald Trump attended the Detroit Lions vs. Washington Commanders game on Sunday. Trump had a busy day watching these two teams play a rematch from the 2024 divisional round.

At some point, Trump called the game on Fox. The decision turned a lot of heads and fans shared their opinions on social media. Some joked about the surprise of listening to the sitting president calling the game.

Other comments were more hostile, demanding that Fox remove Trump from the booth.

"I did not sign up to hear Donald Trump commentate a NFL game," one fan said. "Hey Fox / NFL RedZone please mute Donald Trump I don't want to listen to him for f**k's sake," another fan said. "get that clown the f**k off my football screen," another fan said.

Trump became the first sitting president since 1978 to attempt a regular-season NFL game. There were boos from some spectators when Trump was shown on the videoboard. He read an oath for members of the military as part of the "Salute to Service" festivities.

Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown starred in a fun moment when he scored a touchdown to extend the Lions' lead to 13-3.

The Lions star pointed at Trump's suite in Northwest Stadium before doing Trump's viral dance.

Donald Trump wants Commanders' new stadium named after him

On Saturday, ESPN reported Trump's desire to have the Washington Commanders' new stadium named after him.

"That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told ESPN on Friday.

However, the decision won't depend on the team. The District of Columbia Council, which will lease the stadium to the team, and the National Park Service, which manages the federal government land on the old RFK Stadium (where the new stadium is being built), will have the final say on the name.

"The team doesn't have the authority. They can't name the stadium ... on their own," the source said. "The city would be involved in that decision, and the Park Service would be involved."
