The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs are in a good situation for their college football playoff push. Sitting in the 3rd spot in the SEC standing, they still have some significant tests still on their schedule. While quarterback Gunner Stockton is focused on winning games, he was able to secure another kind of win.

Stockton, who currently has the fifth best odds to win the Heisman Trophy according to CBS Sports, just landed a new NIL deal. This time in the form of two food and beverage companies coming together. While the deals are separate, the pairing of the two brands together is hard to avoid.

The Tiger Georgia product saw his first game action at Georgia in 2024 when he stepped in for an injured Carson Beck. With the departure of Beck to Miami, a path was cleared for Stockton to take over under center. Currently through eight games, Stockton has 1,776 yards and 12 touchdowns on 70.3% and is one of the better performing quarterbacks in Power 4 football.

As the signal caller for Georgia, Stockton was bound to find was to expand his brand and land NIL deals. The Georgia quarterback has already signed a few NIL deals such as Associated Credit Union, HEYDUDE footwear, and Raising Cane’s according to Athlon Sports. On Wednesday of this week Stockton took to social media to announce his latest NIL venture. Whataburger and Dr. Pepper.

Just like committing to Georgia firmly established his SEC loyalties, this latest NIL deal aligns Stockton in a noteworthy fast food chain rivalry that has been ongoing years. The nation's burger war began between McDonalds, Burger King and Wendys decades ago.

The most recent iteration of that debate has circled around California’s In-n-Out Burger, Texas’ Whataburger with New York’s Shake Shack entering the fold recently. Just like arguing SEC vs Big Ten, many Americans have strong opinions on which brand is better.

Stockton and the Georgia Bulldogs travel to Starkville Mississippi to take on Mississippi State this week. That game will kick off at Noon ET and broadcast on ESPN.

Stockton will likely have to find different food accommodations on Saturday as the closest Whataburger to Starkville is over two hours away in Jackson Mississippi. Georgia on the other hand has 37 locations around the state including Athens and nearby Atlanta.
