The Denver Broncos are one of the hottest teams in football right now, riding a seven-game winning streak into Week 11 when they take on their longtime division rival, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Defensively, they currently rank second in the league in terms of EPA/play. It's been the driving force behind the Broncos' hot start.
The offense, on the other hand, has lagged, ranking 15th despite continuous wins. Some fans and analysts have pointed to quarterback Bo Nix as the reason behind the struggles, with a possible sophomore slump weighing the team down.
Colin Cowherd questions if the Broncos could move on from Bo Nix
Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd certainly thinks so, and predicted on his show that head coach Sean Payton could move on from the former Oregon Duck and draft another quarterback.
"Sean Payton is a very impatient guy. He also understands the urgency at quarterback, unlike a lot of coaches in this league. I wonder – because the roster, the O-line is set, the D-line is set, the pass rush, the receivers – would Sean Payton draft another quarterback?" Asked Cowherd.
"I’ve gone from a buy to a hold to a potential sell on Bo Nix. I’ve got seven straight weeks of this stuff."
It's easy to point to Nix as the main problem behind Denver's offensive struggles. But some have suggested that Payton give up playcalling duties to quarterbacks coach Davis Webb.
Despite the offensive slump, the Broncos are still sitting pretty at 8-2, and until they start dropping games, it's safe to say no changes will be made barring an unforeseen collapse.
