Former NFL quarterback turned analyst Dan Orlovsky believes that Brian Daboll had good chemistry with rookie Jaxson Dart.

On Monday on "NFL Live" ahead of the Packers vs Eagles game, he warned Giants owner John Mara that they made a "mistake" firing Daboll and explained the reasoning behind his comment.

"I'm of the belief this is a mistake by the New York Giants," Orlovsky said. "It was clear that the quarterback and head coach had something going on together. At least there's production, performance together and hope. The fourth-quarter leads are obviously something that you're sitting there killing yourself over.

"The team lost its best player and they probably lost their second or third best player, certainly an offensive weapon in (Cam) Skattebo. The fact that they had build these leads should warrant something. The reality is the defense that has something like a cajillion dollars or early draft picks had 10-point fourth-quarter leads four different times this year and they couldn't find ways to secure the lead either.

"So, as much as we want to sit here and say Daboll didn't get it done, a lot of the high prize defensive talent didn't get it done as well."

The New York Giants decided to fire Brian Daboll after Sunday's 24-20 loss at the hands of the Chicago Bears. Fans were also upset with him for the mismanagement of Jaxson Dart, who suffered a concussion during the loss.

Daboll has been with the Giants since 2022. However, he had a disappointing 20-40-1 record with the franchise. This season, they were 2-8 with a four-game losing streak when the coach was let go by the team. Mike Kafka has taken over as the interim head coach of the Giants.

Daniels Jones shares his thoughts on the Giants firing Brian Daboll

Quarterback Daniel Jones has played for the Giants since 2019 before joining the Vikings in November 2024 and then signing with the Colts in March. He spent three seasons under Brian Daboll's guidance.

During an interview with USA TODAY, the quarterback shared his thoughts on his ex-coach getting fired by his former team.

"Yeah, I just kind of heard about it recently," Jones said. "Obviously you never want to see anyone fired. It's an unfortunate part of this business. So yeah, I think that's the reaction. Hope the best for him and everybody there in New York."

During his six-season stint with the Giants, Daniel Jones recorded 14,582 yards and 70 TDs receiving. He and Brian Daboll made the playoffs just once during the 2022 season, when they lost to the Eagles in the divisional round.
