France projected starting 11

(4-2-3-1, right to left): M. Maignan (GK) — J. Kounde, D. Upamecano, W. Saliba, T. Hernandez — A. Tchouameni, A. Rabiot — O. Dembele, M. Olise, D. Doue — K. Mbappe

  • Injured: M. Thuram (calf, doubtful)
  • Suspended: None

Marcus Thuram is France's main fitness concern, with the Inter Milan forward rated as a doubt due to a calf problem.

Didier Deschamps still has plenty of attacking options, with Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise, Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola all competing for roles around Kylian Mbappe.

Aurelien Tchouameni and Manu Kone could continue in midfield, but it's likely that Adrien Rabiot will be recalled after resting agaisnt Norway. Jules Kounde, Dayot Upamecano, William Saliba and Theo Hernandez should form the back four in front of Mike Maignan.

Sweden projected starting 11

(3-4-3, right to left): K. Nordfeldt (GK) — V. Lindelof, G. Lagerbielke, G. Gudmundsson — A. Bernhardsson, H. Karlstrom, Y. Ayari, N. Stroud — A. Elanga, V. Gyokeres, A. Isak

  • Injured: I. Hien (hamstring, out)
  • Suspended: None

Sweden have been dealt a major blow with the loss of centre-back Isak Hien, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament after suffering a hamstring injury against Japan.

Captain Victor Lindelof is expected to marshal a back three alongside Gustaf Lagerbielke and Gabriel Gudmundsson, while Kristoffer Nordfeldt could replace Jacob Widell Zetterstrom in goal.

Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Anthony Elanga should lead the attack once again after combining to drive Sweden into the knockout stage, with Yasin Ayari and Hugo Karlstrom expected to anchor the midfield.

France vs. Sweden prediction, betting odds

France have been one of the standout teams of the tournament so far, winning all three group-stage matches and scoring 10 goals while conceding just twice. With Mbappe in outstanding form and Dembele coming off a hat-trick against Norway,  Deschamps' side enter the Round of 32 as clear favorites.

Sweden have enough attacking quality through Isak, Gyokeres and Elanga to test France's defence, but the absence of centre-back Hien leaves them vulnerable against one of the competition's most dangerous forward lines.

  • Score prediction: France 3-1 Sweden
