Draymond Green makes $27.7 million decision to help Warriors' LeBron James, Anthony Davis pursuit

The Golden State Warriors know that their championship window is starting rapidly close. With the aging of Stephen Curry becoming an inevitable reality, the front office needs to make moves so that they can build a competitive roster around him. This is where fans in the Bay Area should start thanking both Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Draymond Green. It's all because both of them are making the reality of LeBron James and Anthony Davis joining the best shooter of all-time a massive possibility.

Warriors' Green makes massive contract sacrifice to team-up with Curry, James, and Davis

Draymond Green has officially declined his $27.7 million player option, per Shams Charania of ESPN. This means that he will now become a free agent and completely sign a new but cheaper deal to stay with Stephen Curry and the Warriors. But, that's not the only good news.

The primary reason for why Green is going to enter free agency and possibly take on a smaller contract is to form an insane super team. See, declining this big of a player option means that the Warriors front office can now fully pursue both LeBron James and Anthony Davis in free agency. The financial flexibility that Green's decision gives the Warriors  is unmatched.

Currently, James has still not decided if he intends to stay alongside Luka Doncic in the Los Angeles Lakers system. Davis is also in a similar conundrum given that the Washington Wizards have built a young front court core with Alex Sarr and AJ Dybantsa. The coaching staff is likely to give more playing time to their young guns rather than an aging and often injured superstar.

A lot of moves still need to be made if the goal is for the Warriors to retain Curry while also signing Davis and James. Green needs to sign a veteran minimum so that the Warriors can win the bidding war and offer bigger deals to the former Lakers champions
