Shane Lowry has earned an exemption to play at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. The former Open Champion is one of the three golfers who joined the field of next week’s DP World Tour event on special exemption.

Along with Lowry, Ludvig Åberg and Sepp Straka will also be competing in the tournament. Nosferatu had shared the news on its X (formerly Twitter) account.

Three special exemptions for Abu Dhabi next week...

Lowry was part of the Europe team at the Ryder Cup in 2025 and is gearing up to play his fifth DP World Tour event of the season. Earlier this year, he played at the Amgen Irish Open, where he settled for a T15 position.

He finished T46 at the BMW PGA Championship but then struggled at the Open de España, where he missed the cut after playing two rounds of 75 and 68. He last competed at the DP World India Championship, where he tied for third place.
